Camino and Founders Hall LLCs: Cultivate and Illuminate

Please note that Camino and Founders Hall have doubles (limited), triples and quadraple rooms.

Camino Hall and Founders Hall offers easy access to classes, Founders chapel, and several on campus food options, as well as beautiful views of interior courtyards and the Colachis Plaza. Camino Hall is for male residents, Founders Hall is for female residents, and the two buildings are connected by a bridge.  Unique to Camino/Founders are beautiful wooden floors and "Johnny Squares", an assigned sink area shared by roommates. Residents are assigned to double, triple and quadruple rooms on the second floors of both buildings. A Community Director, ten Resident Assistants, and a Resident Minister reside in the halls, along with almost 300 first year residents.

Camino/ Founders are original buildings to USD, and were once the home of the San Diego College of Women. Each resident is provided with an extra-long (80") twin bed, chest of drawers, desk and desk chairs. Showers, restrooms and "Johnny Squares" (are located on each hall. Laundry rooms and vending machines are also provided.

Camino-Founders Resident Assistant Office

The Resident Assistant Office, located in Founders 275, is where you can find Resident Assistants performing their on-duty hours. Feel free to stop by and talk with any RA to discuss any concerns, questions or ideas you may have for Camino and Founders Hall. The Camino/Founders RA duty hours are daily from 7:00PM - 12:00AM Sunday-Thursday, and 8:00PM – 2:00AM on Friday and Saturday.  You can reach the Camino-Founders RA Office Desk at 619-574-5715.  Toilet paper, trash bags and vacuums are all provided by RAs during the on call hours.

Please visit the Mission Crossroads desk during the day- hours are Monday through Thursday 9:00AM to 7:00PM and Friday through Sunday 10:00AM to 8:00PM.

Camino-Founders Laundry Facilities

The Laundry Facilities include 15 washing machines and 16 dryers. The cost for a load of laundry in the washer is $1.25 and dryers are $.50. You need to purchase a laundry card for $2.00 and you can replenish your money on the card in $5, $10, and $20 increments. The laundry card machine does not take $1.00 bills. Students can purchase a laundry card using cash in Founders, and debit card or credit card in Camino. Students can purchase a laundry card and/or reload money on your laundry card at the Add Value station, located outside both laundry room locations.

Community Director: Alysse Hogan

A Hogan

Alysse Hogan is the Community Director for Camino Hall and Founders Hall. She is from Southern California and is a huge LA Lakers fan. She received her B.S. in Communication from Indiana State University. She then moved to and lived in China where she taught English at a university for two years. After two years in China, Alysse moved back to Southern California and earned her M.Ed. in Student Affairs from UCLA where she served as a graduate assistant for the First Year Experience Office. She enjoys spending time with family, learning about different cultures, and exploring San Diego.

Resident Minister: Jesus Espinosa

J Espinosa

Jesus Espinosa is a Resident Minister in Camino Hall. He graduated from the University of San Diego in 2014 and went on to do a year of service work with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps NW in Portland, Oregon. Upon completing the year of service, he returned to USD to begin work in university ministry to mentor and accompany university students on their own faith journey.

This year he hopes to pursue his Masters Degree in Business Administration and eventually start a non-profit organization aimed at helping minority children get on an early path to higher education. During his free time you can catch Jesus playing the guitar, running at the beach, or playing basketball at the sports center.

Resident Minister: Molly Guldin

M Guldin

Molly Guldin graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2015 where she received a Bachelors of Arts in International Development and a minor in Sustainability. She is super excited to work and live with incoming freshman women in hopes of fostering community in a faith seeking setting. In addition to working with residential ministry this year, she will also be pursuing a masters in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. During the mornings and evenings, she loves to surf Sunset Cliffs and Ocean Beach (and is always looking for another girl to join her out in the waters ;))!
