Graduate Nursing Student Association (GNSA)

About GNSA

The purpose of the Graduate Nursing Student Association (GNSA) is to promote interaction among graduate nursing students, faculty, alumni, other graduate students at the University of San Diego, and the nursing community. All graduate nursing students are members and both part-time and full-time students are eligible to apply for officer positions each year.

The GNSA sponsors activities to enhance professional growth, provides an atmosphere for the exchange of ideas, facilitates collegiality among members and faculty, and assists student members by being a source of information. These objectives are achieved through GNSA sponsorship of conferences, invitation of speakers, presentation of instructional material, and participation in local community projects. We also encourage students to explore their leadership potentials by leading events and becoming representatives on various committees within the School of Nursing and the University

The GNSA promotes underrepresented nursing minorities by supporting the GNSA Diversity Club which advocates for and assists nursing students in the Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science.

We seek to empower students to explore issues that affect healthcare, our community, and our roles as caregivers. Drawing on our unique backgrounds, and with the help of expert educators, we aim to broaden our collective understanding of what it means to be part of a diverse community.

We offer monthly meetings and discussions to educate our members on issues we collectively find meaningful and to create a space to discuss among peers.
