Student Wellness and Support Resources

Thank you to all of you who have given so generously so much of your time and energy to support our students and each other during these difficult times. The loss of a third student in one semester is unprecedented and has had a significant impact on our community. Many of you have participated in the efforts to reach out to those students groups and organizations who have been impacted. As our students transition to preparing for their finals, let us continue to be visible and available to support them. To further assist our community, we are preparing a range of activities in coordination with AS and University Ministry; you will receive more details soon. The Wellness Area has also prepared some materials that may be of use to you in your efforts to support students. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with them and do not hesitate to reach out to one of your colleagues in Wellness with any questions or concerns.

Congratulations Dr. Moises Baron

On May 2, 2013, Dr. Moises Baron was recognized as part of the celebration of the Tenth Anniversary of USD’s Education and Disability Clinic. Founded by Dr. Moises Baron, who developed a needs assessment across multiple disciplines to determine level and type of support, COMPASS began in 1999 as a cooperative project (Counseling Center, School of Law, SOLES, Nursing School) offering student training and free services to the community - the families of children with special needs. COMPASS continues at USD as an academic center at SOLES. Dr. Baron developed SEAP (the Special Education Advocacy Program offered in the School of Professional & Continuing Education) to train professionals and parents – the COMPASS Center is the co-sponsor of SEAP.
