May 3, 2012 Contemplative Studies at USD The Center for Educational Excellence is inviting Student Affairs to attend the following presentation: Professional Learning Community Discussion: Contemplative Studies at USD Contemplative Studies at the University of San Diego is a relatively new area with a growing number of courses being offered. Last year, a group of faculty supported by the CEE, developed a professional learning community with the goal of examining the role that contemplative practices have in higher education and specifically at USD. These faculty have been examining their curriculum and the integration of contemplative studies in their existing courses as well as developing new courses. Contemplative practices have the potential to bring different aspects of one's self into focus, to help develop personal goodness and compassion, and to awaken an awareness of the interconnectedness of all life. The panel discussion will highlight some the outcomes that have been developed by the PLC faculty and provide participants with ideas of how they may integrate contemplative studies in their curriculum. This event is intended for all members of the campus community.
