Community Picnic

We hope everyone is excited for this year's annual USD Community Picnic on May 29 at 1pm on Manchester Field! This year, the theme of the picnic is "Being Well" and CHR@USD is hosting games and competitions around this theme! They include:

  • Dessert making competition (must include fruits or vegetables in the entries)
  • Sunflower seed count (visit MH 101 to submit your answer)
  • USD Trivia (questions will be posted on Friday, May 24 at

CHR@USD will also be hosting traditional USD Community Picnic games, including:

  • Chicken toss (four-person teams and closed-toe shoes required)
  • Employee and youth musical chairs
  • 50/50 raffle (see below for details)
  • Carnival games

Please note, the location of the picnic has been moved to the Manchester Field while the Valley Field undergoes repairs for the upcoming summer camps and conferences. Transportation from the main campus will be provided to lessen the parking impact.

If you are interested in participating in any of the games or you would like to volunteer at the picnic, be sure to contact Adriana Garcia for details and contest rules!

Reminder: 50/50 Raffle Tickets

Raffle tickets for the annual Employee Picnic are now available for purchase at the Vice President for Student Affairs' office suite in Hahn UC 232. Raffle tickets are two for $1 and 12 for $5.

Half of the money collected will go towards CHR@USD program funding during the 2013-2014 year and the other half will go to the winner of the raffle.

Moves Like Gangnam Flash Mob

The Student Affairs Flash Mob - "Moves Like Gangnam" - has arrived! We will be performing the Flash Mob at this year's Community Picnic on Wednesday, May 29. If you are interested in participating in the Flash Mob, you must be at the live rehearsal on Tuesday, May 28 in the Sports Center Dance Room at 11:30am, and be available to perform at the Community Picnic (May 29) some time between 1:30-2:15pm.

So, if you're ready to get your Flash Mob on, click on the following link for a video tutorial. To download the audio file, click here. You can practice at your own convenience, just please make sure you have all the dance moves down before Tuesday's rehearsal. Please encourage your office mates and any guests you'll be bringing to the Community Picnic to participate! For an added bonus, feel free to make your OWN VIDEO of you (your office, your guests) practicing the dance. Upload the video to Youtube – set it to private if you wish – or email the video files directly to Kenny Eng.

If you've read this or watched the dance tutorial and you're still not sure what a Flash Mob is, or aren't sure what this could potentially be, check out this video from Chico State. Of course, our Flash Mob is unique and will only be complete with your energy and support!

Finally, remember to keep the news about the Student Affairs Flash Mob under wraps. This is meant to be a fun, spirited SURPRISE at the Community Picnic.

If you have any questions, please contact Liberty. Best of luck!
