The week of April 8-14 is National Student Employment Week. Please take a moment this week to recognize your student employees for the services that they perform.
In February, 19 students were nominated for 2011-2012's USD Student Employee of the Year. Some of the students are employed through Federal Work-Study and others are employed as Casual Workers. The letters of recommendation received on their behalf indicate that their performance is truly exceptional and that their contributions are highly valued by their departments.

Photographs of the nominees will be displayed in the hallway outside the Student Employment Center on the third floor of the Hughes Administration Center through the first week of May. The USD recipient of the 2011-2012 Student Employee of the Year Award will be announced at the Honors Convocation on May 1.
The Buddhist Diaspora in India Photo Exhibit
"The Buddhist Diaspora in India" is a photography exhibition organized by Atreyee Phukan (English) and Dominik Huber (photographer) that offers a visual portal into the life and landscape of Buddhists and Buddhism in northern and north-east India. The artist gives articulation to a diverse and candid range of pilgrims and architecture in this presentation of the full-life of a people and faith His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has spent his life serving. These photographic media join with other multidisciplinary activities across the university campus as USD prepares for the visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama on April 18.
Born in Switzerland, raised in southern Italy, a long-time resident of New York city, and now living in San Diego, Dominik Huber has spent over twenty years recording the stories of his travels through photography, combining an artist's sensitivity to the abstract and involvement with socio-cultural evolutions. The exhibit will run throughout the month of April and is installed on the 2nd floor hallway of the Kroc IPJ outside room 219.
The date and time for the formal opening reception will be announced soon. This project was made possible through generous funds from the Offices of Community Service Learning and the Vice Provost. For more information contact Atreyee Phukan, ext. 7634, phukana@sandiego.edu.

Summer On Campus Housing
Summer housing is available for all current USD students who attended this spring or will attend next fall. Being enrolled in summer classes or working on campus is not a requirement. Please share the attached with students you know or work with.
The Tom Cosgrove Crew Hull Officially Christened
Over the weekend of March 31, the crew hull that commemorates Dr. Thomas J. Cosgrove's contributions to the USD Crew Team, Student Affairs, and USD was officially christened during the 39th Crew Classic. As you may know, Dr. Cosgrove was an Associate Vice President in Student Affairs who retired in 2010. Dr. Cosgrove was instrumental in the popularity and success of the USD Crew Team and the Crew Classic.

Relay for Life
Thank you to everyone who came and participated in the Relay for Life during the March 30-31 weekend. Your support was greatly appreciated. Also, thank you to everyone involved with the planning and preparation for this event.
