Thank You From a First-Year Student Be sure to check your inbox for a special thank you from the Center for Student Success sent on Tuesday, March 5. You may have been specifically recognized in the 2013 MAP-Works Check-up Survey as being the "most helpful" person in a first-year student's college success. Over 150 faculty, staff, and student leaders were named in this year’s survey. We would like to especially thank those who have been recognized multiple times (you know who you are)! The CSS appreciates all of the effort from the USD community in supporting our first-year students – keep up the amazing work! USD Celebrates Diversity Week Diversity Week is coming to USD once again from March 11-15! Be sure to join us for the annual March of the Toreros on March 14. Check out the full schedule of events below! Congratulations Margaret Leary Margaret Leary has been admitted to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities (WASC). Only 30 professionals are admitted to the Academy each year and participants are selected through an application process. The Academy pedagogy will integrate theories of adult learning with active pedagogies for ongoing engagement in readings, case studies, project-based learning, problem solving, collaborative learning, role play, and simulations. Participants will use their home institutions as a context for practice and learning. In addition to a project for their own campus, each participant will evaluate the assessment practices at another institution. The Academy will blend face-to-face and on-line learning in a schedule that accommodates active professionals and eliminates excessive travel. The expertise and ideas of regional and national leaders will extend the curriculum through readings of research and in-person lectures, interactions, and one-on-one consultations. USD 2013 Career Expo Career Services is hosting their annual Career Expo. This year, they will be bringing over 70 organizations from the San Diego area for students to learn about job opportunities and to showcase our students to potential employers. If you know of any students who may be interested in attending this event, please direct them to the Career Services website.
