Commencement Marshals

Are you interested in being a Commencement Marshal this year? Marie Minnick is requesting your assistance with this year's undergraduate ceremonies! Commencement Marshals are tasked with getting undergraduates into the Jenny Craig Pavilion, across the stage, and out of the JCP in an orderly manner. It is a little crazy and somewhat exhausting, but also a great way to see our students off! The commitment includes a one hour training meeting on Friday, May 24 and working the morning, afternoon or both (preferably) ceremonies.

May 26 is the big day! The Arts and Sciences ceremony begins at 9 a.m. (arrive at 8:00 a.m.) and the Business and Engineering ceremony begins at 2 p.m. (arrive at 1:00 p.m.).

Please let Marie Minnick know if you have any questions. If you are able to assist, please include which ceremony (or ceremonies) you can help with by March 8.

USD Madrid Center and Big Prize Drawing for UnderGraduate Student Applicants

Beginning this summer, the USD Madrid Center in Spain will become USD's first permanent international studies facility. It's in the heart of Madrid, near Retiro Park and the Prado Museum.

While SOLES and the School of Business Administration are expected to have summer programs there first, the USD Madrid Center will be welcoming its first undergraduate students studying abroad this fall. To create some additional excitement about this development and to get students to apply to Madrid, the International Center is having a big prize drawing on Monday, March 17.

Only undergraduate students who submit their application for Madrid 2014 Fall Study Abroad program by 12 p.m. on March 17, are eligible for the drawing.

Grand Prize: A free roundtrip flight ticket to Madrid, value $1500.
First Prize: An iPad Mini, value $400.
Second Prize: Three-piece luggage set, value $200

Drawing will take place some time after the noon deadline, but the winners will be announced at 5 p.m.

Please share this with any students who might be interested!
