Peer Educator Training

The Center for Health and Wellness Promotion and Campus Connections would like to invite students to participate in the upcoming BACCHUS-Certified Peer Educator Training February 15th and 16th. This 12-hour training is an opportunity for students to develop their leadership skills, increase their positive peer influence, and to learn how to intervene and refer a friend to resources. Participating in the training is also a great way to get connected with Campus Connections, a community of peers dedicated to promoting healthy choices and lifestyles. Please encourage students to attend and if you have any questions contact Layne Woollard at lwoollard@sandiego.edu. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day.

BACCHUS-Certified Peer Educator Training

2014 – 2015 Housing Sign-Ups

Residential Life is excited to launch their 2014 – 2015 Academic Year Housing Sign-Up Process for returning students, beginning February 3, 2014. The process ends March 3, 2014.

In an effort to simplify the process they will have two important dates for students to remember. The first date is February 3, 2014 at 10 am.

The second important date to remember is March 3, 2014 at 4 pm. By this date, all completed online applications and $250 nonrefundable prepayments must be submitted. If students are pursuing Squatter’s Rights, a Special Interest Community, or Residential Life's brand new Second Year Experience program, they will need to complete the corresponding E-Form (the E-Form will be emailed to the student's @sandiego.edu address after completing their application). The Online Housing Application, the Nonrefundable Prepayment, and the E Form is due March 3, 2014 at 4pm.

Invite students to join Residential Life in front of the SLP on the Plaza Menor on the following dates to enjoy free food and speak with a housing representative to answer any questions they may have:

February 13, 2014 at noon
February 18, 2014 at noon
February 27, 2014 at noon

As always please feel free to contact Residential Life with any questions. You can email them at housing@sandiego.edu or by phone at 619.260.4777.

Welcome New Staff to Student Wellness

It is with great enthusiasm that Student Wellness welcomes two new staff members, Jaime King and Dr. Diana Bull, to their team. Jaime and Diana will be leading many of the USD Suicide Prevention efforts funded by the SAMHSA grant.

Jaime comes from Fort Collins, Colorado where she most recently served as a Communications Manager at Colorado State University. Jaime joins the CHWP team with a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelors of Arts in Technical Journalism. Jaime will be leading the CHWP marketing efforts in her new role as Coordinator of Media and Outreach.

Diana Bull has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. Diana brings a great deal of knowledge from San Diego State University where she remains the Peer Education Program Coordinator and has previous experience providing direct clinical services to students. Diana will be leading the CHWP education efforts in her new role as Coordinator of Curriculum and Training.

Please take the time welcome to Jaime and Diana. Jaime can be contacted via e-mail at jaimeeking@sandiego.edu and Diana can be reached at dbull@sandiego.edu. Also, feel free to call the Center for Health and Wellness Promotion or drop in to say hello.

Partnerships across campus are essential to the work the CHWP does and they are so excited to have two new Student Wellness staff to join all of Student Affairs as we work to serve the USD community. We are looking forward to new and improved initiatives to support the wellness of USD.
