Commencement Marshals Needed

Marie Minnick is looking for Commencement Marshals who can assist with this year's undergraduate ceremonies. Commencement Marshals are tasked with getting the undergraduates into the Jenny Craig Pavilion, across the stage and out of the JCP in an orderly manner. It is a little crazy, somewhat exhausting and a fun way to see off our students. The commitment includes a one hour training meeting on May 24 and working the morning or afternoon ceremonies (but preferably both).

The Undergraduate Commencement is scheduled for May 26. The Arts and Sciences ceremony begins at 9 a.m. (arrive at 8:00 a.m.) and the Business and Engineering ceremony begins at 2 p.m. (arrive at 1:00 p.m.).

Please let Marie know if you have any questions or if you would like to participate by March 8, if possible.

Thanks for your support of this celebration of our students!

CHR@USD has been providing USD employees with many different ways of celebrating university events and other employees. Another great way of recognizing your colleagues is the CHR@USD Employee Recognition Award which is presented twice a year in the spring and the fall.

The objective of the CHR@USD Employee Recognition Award is to create role models and communicate noteworthy accomplishments, reinforce behaviors important to the university, and increase morale by recognizing extraordinary employee contributions. The selection of award recipients is based on how the nominee(s) exemplifies the university’s mission statement, core values and strategic initiatives in an extraordinary fashion. Areas of consideration include excellence in advancing two or more of the following categories:
