Holiday Message from Carmen
Dear Colleagues,
As we conclude the fall semester dedicated to PEACE a Principal of Catholic Social Thought and the Holy day of Christmas a few days away, I am reminded of one of my favorite prayers from St. Francis of Assisi.
Lord , make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is dying that we are born to eternal life.
May you have the gift of Faith, the blessings of Hope, and the peace of His Love at Christmas and always.

SLIC Desk Decorating Competition
Thank you for your support of our 4th Annual Holiday Desk Decorating Competition! It was a fun and spirited day and it was wonderful to see everyone roaming the 3rd and 4th levels. Let's all keep that neighborly love going!
This year's Desk Decorating participants were:
- The SLIC Student Staff/Creative Zone - "Welcome to the Sugar Shack"
- The SLIC Graduate Assistant Staff - "Flying Through the Holidays"
- The Women's Center - "A Peaceful Winter"
- The United Front Multicultural Center - "Holidays Across the World"
The desk-orators took it to a whole new level this year and poured many hours and recycled material into their décor. To the desk-orators: thank you for pouring so much energy and holiday cheer into this annual event!
A winner has been determined by a combination of popular vote and judges scores. The 2012 winner is:
THE WOMEN'S CENTER – "A PEACEFUL WINTER"
Congratulations to the Women's Center and thank you to all who participated for bringing joy to the season.
GSC End of the Semester Celebration at O'Tooles
The Graduate Student Council brought 88 graduate and law students together at O'Tooles on the evening of Wednesday, December 12 to celebrate the end of the semester! Thanks to everyone who joined!

Shout out to the AMAZING Health Center staff who quickly and efficiently adjusted to the temporary relocation of the patient entrance /reception/waiting room during last week’s water pipe break above the newly renovated Health Center. Thanks to the awesome FRONT OFFICE Executive Assistants: Anna Hamilton, Diane Rutan, Judy Belgau, Julia Pullman and our marvelous RN’s, Margie Clark and Darla Laatsch, for ensuring continuity of patient care during this surprise shower inside the Health Center! -Maureen Kane
