Open Enrollment Now Open

The Open Enrollment period is now open and will run from November 1-15. Changes and elections will be effective January 1, 2014. Next year’s plan changes are summarized in the information sent to you this week or on the Employee Tab in the MySanDiego Portal under “Benefits Open Enrollment.”

How to Sign Up for Your 2014 Benefits

Please log into https://oracleapps.sandiego.edu/, then select “USD Employee Self Service” and then “Benefits” to review your current selections, make any necessary changes and confirm that your selections are accurate. Remember to review your life insurance beneficiary designations.

You can also access Oracle Employee Self Service through the MySanDiego portal, on the Employee tab. In the Employee Links section, click on “HR Employee Self Service (Oracle).”

Need help?

Here are three ways to get more information to help make informed decisions about your 2014 plan options:

1. Carrier Web Sites

USD partnered with Cigna and Kaiser to create two unique websites to tailor to the needs of our health plan participants. Use these sites to find a doctor, compare medical plan options (Cigna only), review benefit plan details, and access tools/resources to help you with healthy lifestyle choices.

Kaiser: www.my.kp.org/ca/usd

Cigna: www.mycignaplans.com
User ID: USD2014
Password: Cigna

2. Open Enrollment Meetings and Computer Lab/Help Sessions

Attend one of these informative sessions to learn more about your 2014 benefit plans. If you are interested in learning more about (or enrolling in) the Consumer Directed Health Plan (CDHP), please attend one of the three designated CDHP sessions. Representatives from the HR Benefits team will be available in the computer labs to help employees complete their online enrollment and to help answer individual questions.

Meeting/Lab Schedule: https://my.sandiego.edu/sandiego/pdf-files/OpenEnrollmentInfoandMeetingSchedule.pdf

3. Summary of Benefits Coverage (SBC)

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the following SBCs are available for USD’s 2014 Health Plans on the Employee Tab of the MySanDiego Portal:

CIGNA HMO - https://my.sandiego.edu/sandiego/pdf-files/CignaMedicalHMOSBC2014.pdf

CIGNA OAP/PPO - https://my.sandiego.edu/sandiego/pdf-files/CignaMedicalOAPorPPOSBC2014.pdf

CIGNA CDHP – https://my.sandiego.edu/sandiego/pdf-files/CignaMedicalCDHP-HSASBC2014.pdf

KAISER HMO - https://my.sandiego.edu/sandiego/pdf-files/KaiserMedicalHMO2014SBC.pdf

For more information on your 2014 benefit plans, please visit the Employee Tab of the MySanDiego Portal. If you have additional questions, please e-mail usdbenefits@sandiego.edu.

Welcome Joshua Coyne

We are pleased to inform you that Joshua Coyne has been selected as the Community Director for Mission Apartments (San Buenaventura and San Antonio De Padua floors 2 and 3) and co-advisor to the Residence Hall Association executive board.

Josh will join us from Niagara University where he currently serves as a professional residence hall director and advises student organizations. Josh earned a B.A. in Political Science from Niagara University in 2010 and a M.S. in College Student Personnel Administration from Canisius College in 2012. He also served as an ACUHO-I intern at the University of Notre Dame and conducted research on the influence of the Catholic institutions on gender identity development of college men as a graduate student at Canisius. Josh presented his research at the conference of the Association for Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities in July 2012.

Josh was selected from a robust and talented pool of approximately 90 applicants. We look forward to welcoming Josh to USD and to his contributions to our campus community. He will assume the CD position on Monday, December 2 and his office will be located in Mission Crossroads. Please feel free to congratulate and welcome Josh to USD at jcoyne@niagara.edu.

Content Management System Update

Starting this semester, the USD Web Team will be transitioning all USD websites from Contribute to a new content management system (CMS) called Cascade. If you are a website manager, please note that in order to retain managerial access to your website(s), you will need to take the Cascade training that the Web Team is offering.

***Student manager information: Training classes have been scheduled through Spring 2014, with classes being offered each day of the week, except Friday. Students are welcome to split sessions across offerings (morning session of one class, with an afternoon session of another class) in order to accommodate schedules.***

More information regarding student trainings will be available soon.
