Combating Homophobia
Internationally acclaimed one-man show New York writer/performer Jeffrey Solomon will be coming to the University of San Diego to do a workshop on Combating Homophobia and Creating a More Inclusive Community, November 9th at 1:00pm (location TBD). He will perform of his one-man show MotherSON, November 10th at 7:00pm, in the Studio Theatre, Sacred Heart Hall. Participants will play interactive games, and participate in role-plays exploring how homophobia manifests itself in the home, classroom and wider community and how we might employ more effective strategies to combat it.
MotherSON
A one-man show. A beautiful portrait of a young gay man and an opinionated woman—his mother. Both hilarious and heartfelt, this story traces her journey from rejection to acceptance. A critical hit on both sides of the Atlantic, Emmy nominated writer-performer Jeffrey Solomon plays both mother and son in a performance the Chicago Tribune calls "Powerfully personal, yes as universal as family values."

Qualtrics Accounts
ITS has given us the go ahead to set up Qualtrics accounts. Below are the steps to create your account:
- To Create your Account:
- Click on this link
- Log in with your MySanDiego login >> Enter your UserID and Password.
- Agree to the USD Qualtrics Terms of Use.
- If you don't already have a Qualtrics Account:
- Click on the button "I don't have a Qualtrics Account"
- follow the instructions to create your account
- Once you create the account and agree to terms and conditions and have your account created >> proceed to the ONLINE Tutorials and Trainings (variety of resources and instructions are available to help users to get started with using the tool).
Your account will be limited to sending 100 emails per survey and to viewing 100 responses per survey. If you plan to administer a survey that exceeds 100 recipients, you will need to contact Margaret Leary in advance to review your survey, ensure that it doesn't overlap with another survey on campus and increase your limit. To do this, when you create your survey in Qualtrics you should "collaborate" with Margaret and give her full permissions on the survey. Then, send Margaret Leary an email asking to increase your limit.
Margaret is available to help in all steps of your assessment projects. You are free to review the training materials independently on the Qualtrics site (see above) and she has scheduled a time to review the training videos for the 3 basic components as a group on Tuesday, October 25 from 1-2:30 (location TBD). Please RSVP by this Friday.

With Halloween quickly approaching, Residential Life has worked hard to create a number of fun, spooky and engaging opportunities to take part in around campus. Below is a list of some of these events. Have a good, safe Halloween!
The Valley
- October 28: Halloween Fright-Tacular: scary movies and treats
- October 29: Costume Contest in the Valley
- October 28-29: Reverse Trick or Treating, RAs will bring candy to their residents!
The Vistas
- October 28: Pumpkin Carving and Costume Pictures
- October 29: Scary Movie Night with snacks
- October 31: Reverse Trick or Treating
Maher
- October 28-29, Donut Be Afraid of the RAs!: free donuts for residents outside of the RA office.
- October 16-31, Door Decorating Contest: the top three doors receive a prize!
- October 31, Reverse Trick or Treating
- October 31, Spookie Cookie: free cookies for residents outside the RA office.
Camino-Founders
- October 27: scary movie in the courtyard at 8:30
- October 28: Reverse Trick or Treating, movie and snacks in the RA lounge, costume/picture contest
- October 29: Reverse Trick or Treating, movie and snacks in the RA lounge, costume/picture contest
- October 30: Reverse Trick or Treating, costume/picture contest
Manchester Village
- October 26-31: Fun on the Field: the Manchester Village Field’s lights will be left on for all of Halloween weekend so residents can enjoy the field!
- October 26: Haunted Trail: the theme is “The Exorcist.”
- October 28: Screening of “The Exorcist” with treats in the 3rd floor Manchester Village conference room.
- Date to be determined: Trick or Treating with the Child Development Center.
Flu Shot Clinic
The Student Health Center and Associated Students are co-sponsors of a flu shot clinic. The clinic will be held on November 2, 3, and 4th in the SLP. The cost is $10.00.
