Become a BACCHUS-Certified Peer Health Educator Campus Connections and the Peer Education Nation are recruiting! This is an opportunity for students to enhance their resume, prepare for a pre-health degree, learn something new and help their friends. The training is on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Hahn UC 104 and students can pre-register by emailing CHWP@sandiego.edu. All Faith Service The All Faith Service will be held on Thursday, February 2 at 12:15 p.m. in Shiley Theatre. The theme is Live, Love, Give: Our Rights and Responsibilities inspired by the CST principle, Rights and Responsibilities, chosen by the Council for the Advancement of Catholic Social Thought for the spring semester. This year the reflection will be given by Sister Patricia Cruise, S.C. the recently appointed director and CEO of Fr. Joe's Villages. As in past years, participants include members of the USD community and representatives of various faith traditions, who through song, poetry, chant, dance and narration highlight their different beliefs. Since the service is scheduled in Shiley Theatre, again this year, this will allow us to utilize media technology more fully. Resident Assistant Applications Now Available! RA Applications for the fall 2012 Academic Year are now online at www.sandiego.edu/residentiallife. The application deadline is Friday, February 10, 2012 at 12pm! Social Innovation Challenge: $30K to Be Distributed amongst Winners Live out your wildest dream by proposing an idea for creating a social venture. The Center for Peace and Commerce, in partnership with the USD Changemaker Hub, invites students to make a sustainable impact on the world we live in. The 2012 Social Innovation Challenge aims at helping students transcend from being visionaries to social enterprise owners/ trend setters/ nonprofit founders by providing seed funding ($30,000 to be distributed), mentorship, and guidance from entrepreneurs and the backing of the entire USD community.
West Coast Conference Hall of Honor USD's inductee into the West Coast Conference Hall of Honor for 2012 is Thomas Burke. Tom's contribution to the progress of our Athletics Department, during our formative years, is unmatched. He spearheaded the move from NCAA Division II to Division I and the West Coast Conference. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade Thank you and congratulations to all who participated in last week's parade! USD is the proud recipient of winning first place in the Education division. Shout out to Jacque for taking the opportunity to connect 3 people with similar experiences in recently losing their old and little doggies! Being able to connect and share our loss and feelings has made all the difference! You truly are an Angel!
