All Faith Service

On Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 12:15 p.m. in Shiley Theatre, USD is holding its annual All Faith Service. The theme is Music As Pathway to the Sacred inspired by the CST principle, “Call to Family, Community and Participation,” chosen by the Council for the Advancement of Catholic Social Thought for the spring semester. This year, the reflection will be given by Dr. Nuvi Mehta, Outreach Conductor with the San Diego Symphony and Assistant conductor with the San Diego Chamber Orchestra. As in past years, participants include USD students and representatives of various faith traditions, who through song, chant, dance and narration highlight their different beliefs. We encourage everyone to attend!

First-Year Experience Conference

This is a reminder about the upcoming annual conference on the First-Year Experience in San Diego (Feb. 15-18, 2014 -

For anyone unfamiliar with these conferences or the national resource center out of the University of South Carolina, they are unique gatherings that represent the broad spectrum of work on the first year of college. The individuals attending and presentations offered span a variety of work related to first-year students from all types of institutions. If you have not attended in the past, we strongly encourage anyone interested to consider attending, especially since it will be right in our backyard!

For graduate students (all SASC GA's and higher education students) — this is a great professional conference opportunity with exposure to a wide range of work, institutions/organizations, and individuals in the higher education field.

As a co-host institution, USD staff are eligible for a small conference discount. Please contact Merrick Marino ( for more information.

EDC "People Like Us" Event

MySanDiego and Torero Spirit Apps

Last fall, USD launched its redesigned mobile app in order to offer a new experience for students and community members. This spring, we will be testing some new functionality within these apps including push notifications to mobile devices. We are still in the pilot phase of this testing but we welcome any and all suggestions regarding this new capability. You can send messages for consideration for push notifications to Kenny Eng (

If you have not done so already, please download the MySanDiego app and Torero Spirit app from the Apple App Store.
